Can Syntheyes help when compositing non-moving shots? I like compositing 3D stuff into video, but nailing the proper perspective so that it matches the real world footage has always frustrated me.
 
Yes, if your photograph or locked off shot has straight lines in the shot you can use it to help find a camera but if not straight lines back to manual methods. Take a look at this app too.

I used SynthEyes to find my camera settings on this photo I took in NY then did some camera mapping in Cinema 4D.
