Syncing cams VV4

I have a series of 4 cams synced from a recent concert I shot. All four cams are grouped together and synced to the live audio from the band. What is the the best method to edit in between the four cams without losing the sync of each cam with the music? When I was using premiere back in the day, I would use the razor to cut out portions I didn't want from each cam, but Vegas does not have anything like that does it? I tried selecting and cutting pieces, but since they are grouped together it cuts all four pieces, not just the one I want to cut. Anybody have any suggestions or tips?

Thanks for your help

buy a minidisc and record your audio off the soundboard.. you will get the best sound period no matter how good your mics are. then add that audio to its own track at the very top. Then import your 4 video tracks, cut off all the audio and it will give you an empty track space between each video track that you can put your mouse on to click and cut. Does that make any sense or do i need to explain it better?

Thanks alot, I new there was an easier way to do it. Is there anyway to mark each individual clip rather then marking the the timeline so that I can be sure that the clips dont get out of sync?

Thanks again

im not sure i understand what you mean? do you mean looking them to the timeline so you cant move them back and forth?

Re: Syncing cams VV4

Let me see if I can explain my situation a little better, and then you might be able to point me in the best direction for going about editing this thing. I have four cams synced to the audio from one cam. I need to be able to cut between each cam without losing sync with the audio or the other clips. My problem is that as soon as I start cuting if one of the tracks gets off a frame or two I have no way of getting it back on. If I could lock the clips in place, but still be able to cut them them indivually that would be great. Is there a way to do that? I don't know if this explanation is any better , but hopefully you see what I'm trying to do.

Thanks again

Re: Syncing cams VV4

you are working with 4 seperate tracks right, or are you trying to pull all the clips into one video track? you can lock a clip by right clicking on it and I think it's called switches then lock.. then you cant move them left or right or do anything to them. After you get a buncha clips cut just nice, you can also group them so when you move them they move as one. when they are grouped you can still edit them, but they move all in sync.

But, I dont see how you are loosing sync, unless you are trying to edit them all on one track. I thing you might not like using multiple tracks because when you goto do a cut you loose all the tracks, but if you figure out how to just select one track you will be much happier.

Re: Syncing cams VV4

I am faced with a very similar story on my next project. Once the tracks are in sync you can SPLIT ALL TRACKS at camera angle transtions. The fear is we may shift a track one way or another without realizing and throw the whole thing off. Connolly is right in thinking there must be a way to keep all the tracks together but still be able to edit them. I have tried to group them but I can't keep them grouped during multi edits. Once I get the tracks split I can move all events up into one track and then group. I'LL let you know if I come up with an easier way. :-/
