sync sound in FCP?

for the life of me I can't figure out how to even get MERGE CLIPS to be ungreyed and the internet is NOT helping!

Does anyone have any idea how to sync sound from one camera to a video of another? we slated and everything, but I cant figure out how to merge these into one clip so I can rename them and have it act as 1 clip.

Premiere and Vegas both have a "group clips" funtion which allows you to do this... you can link any video/audio clips and they will be locked together and the sync will not change. I did a quick search but it seems FCP does not have this feature. The suggestion people were giving is to sync the clips in a seperate sequence, then nest it into your main sequence. Easy if it's just one long interview... not so easy if you've got to do it for every clip of a narrative film.
 
Are they different frame rates? Different frame TYPES? You can't merge clips of different types...this is meant for synching AUDIO ONLY with a VIDEO source. not two video sources.
