Hey everyone,
I'm working on a feature film in Belgium, and right now I've imported all the footage and all the soundfiles in one big Final Cut Pro project (6.0.1). So now I have to synchronize the image and the sound and merge them to together to one file.
Everything is ordened in maps per scene with all the seperate footage and soundfiles of that scene in that map. Both files have embedded timecode in them, so if I select two files, as example 0010101.mov and 0010101.wav, and then right-click "Merge clips.." and use the "use Timecode" function, both of them are synchronized to my needs. Ok, seems good.
But I want it to overwrite the audio that is in the original video file as well, and not just add additional layers of sound. Besides that, I also want it not to add extra length to the file, since there is more audio recored than video for every take (obviously), adding black video to both ends of a take containing sound, which I don't need.
Is there a function or a workaround to get this done? And as an additional remark, is it possible to let FCP do this automatically for every scene or the whole project? Since there are thousands of takes, that would come in handy!
Thank you for your time!
Maxim
