Why are they giving such a "sweet" deal? Usually they do stuff like this when they are about to launch some new revision to the current model or come out with a brand new one.

With NAB lurking around the corner, maybe something is cooking that we don't know about

i am probably gonna buy a dvx within the week. i was just wondering, would this cash back refund work if i bought it from EVS? how would i go about getting it?

All I know is that the DVX100B is coming out fairly soon. From what Jan has said, it's mainly a change to get rid of the internal parts that contain lead. She also hinted that she's trying to get a few other changes, but that she doesn't know (or won't say) if they will happen. Also, there might be a slight color change (I'm guessing all black, but I could be wrong).

The DVX100b is not necessarily coming out "fairly soon", it might be nine months before it comes out (there was some talk of "september"... but then again, it could be released tomorrow, who knows?)

As for the rebate, yes if you get the camera from EVS you will be entitled to the rebate.

As for a new model, the rumors are rampant that a new HD model will be introduced.  However, it will not be a successor or replacement to the DVX, it'll be a new model priced a couple thousand dollars more than the DVX.  Panasonic's stated that the DVX is a current model and will continue to be a current model, so I'm expecting that they'd sell both models side-by-side (just like they sell the $3400 DVX and the $5500 DVC200 side-by-side).

Thanks Barry, and yes we are 100% authorized and therefore the rebate is good with us. ;D
