Sweeeet! Just finished my new web page!

I was looking at my website the other day and I realized that I hadn't updated it in about a year and a half. I also realized that I had grown tired of the design. It looked slopy and the navigation sucked. So I just decided to start over from scratch. That was two days ago. I stayed up last night until what I thought was 1am and it turned out to be 5:30am, so I got a lot done.
Let me know what you guys (and gals) think. Also if there are spelling/grammer errors feel free to let me know (I'm a horrible speller). If you are having any other problems (navagation wise) let me know and I'll se what I can do. Thanks for your input .

BTW, it is optimized for Broadband, however it should move allright for you 56k guys as well. I also put Large and small WMV's and Quicktimes of each movie so hopefully that covers everybody.

scharky, hey the website looks nice. My only nit pick problem would be that its too darn bright! My eyes were hurting after awhile. Toning down the color would be nice. Otherwise, its cool!

Are you saying the overall contrast? or is it that the colors that I used are too bright?
I might see if I can add some slighty more contrasting colors to make it a little easier on the eyes.

hey Scharky I like it man. It's reeks of honesty.It's like three rooms of goodies with a phone at the bottom, simple but effective. I also see where Spiders coming from I think. It comes across visually as if I've throttled the brightness way up on my monitor. The images you lead us to seem to be correct gamma which means your brightness is up too high. I think you could safely tone down the page a tiny bit to make it stand out more :)
It would'nt sway me either way if you change that or not, I'd still vote the site a big success!

First and foremost; excellent design. I like this. (Now I hate mine)

My .02

Colors are somewhat bright to me; washed out, ghost like. How about a darker muted Grey background and a muted Red on those links (Not bright but muted and darker shades)

I also would one of your killer photos taking up the center frame; why make people hunt for your work when you can put it right there upon loading!?

Can you bump the page up so that the LOGO is closer to the top? It would be nice to see evrything without that minor scroll (I am saying to move the page up so that your name is visible from the bottom without having to scroll; my settgins BTW are 1024 X 768

Thats my 2 cents and always IMHO

I love it though! Great job!

thanks for your suggestions guys. I am working on it right now. John those colors are right on. you totally read my mind. I'll try my html skill and see if I can get it closer to the top.
Anybody have any suggestions for which photo to use at the principle preloader screen. what screems "SCHARKY" to you guys? ;D
Thanks for the suggestions and I'll have those changes made as soon as possible so you don't come after me for making you go blind.

Ok, all fixed.  I realize everybody is probably sleeping right now, at least those who are living on the American continent.  I also made a page that allows you to choose your screen size, so those like John can have it fit perfectly to their screen.  Let me know what you think of this type of tactic for an opening page.
I was looking at adding a photo to the preloader, but then I found that it takes longer to load the preloader, which pretty much defeats the purpose.  Mino, I have found that most people like that first photo from the "Awake" series.  It is one of my favorites as well.
On my films page I even have a couple of attempts at animation, and some older films as well.  Just thought that it would be much more diverse than just live action films.

Also have another question. Is it intuitive that the scrolling bar on the left hand side of the screen in the photos page is clickable? meaning that you don't have to wait for the photos to go at their own pace?

Re the scrolling bar It wasn't intuitive for me, but I'm sometimes like a cat faced with a doorknob...I know it's got someting to do with me getting out on this room, but what!!!

I scoped this yesterday, and I like it a lot! Granted, I just got back from a bar, but, is the 'resume' section not coming through? Maybe it's just one too many shots.

That has to rate as one of the funniest post I've ever seen Scharky. As soon as you said "Granted I just got from a bar" I granted read it with a different eye. As soon as I read "quick, q who's the chick I fell apart ;D ;D ;D ;D

Resume section?
I had one at my old site, but the new one doesn't have one.  I figured if a resume was needed I could just send it to people.

Nice work Schark, especially your photography work. I definitely want to see a trailer to Awake. The site is much better.


I'd consider using a lighter shade of gray for your background color, for some reason that color is making me sleepy. Just my opinion though.

Oh man, I just can't win. :D
It was a lighter shade of gray last night at 2am.  But blue spider made me change it.  He literally heald a gun to my head. ::)  Yup I'm blaming it all on blue spider.

Looks good. New color scheme works fine for me.

The numerical picture selector and loading indicator control on the left side is a little confusing. At least, I think that's what the thing is. I would recommend leaving that only as a selector. If the other photos are being loaded then gray out their numbers until loaded. Or, show a small % counter and when it hits 100% then show the picture number and allow it to be selected.

Heh, sorry John but I'm laughing because of your screen size since that's what my parent's use. They are always reality checking me for images and pages that are too large. I'm one of those people that loves screen real estate (currently dual monitors at 3200x1200).

But, I'm probably going to pay for it later with my eyesight. 8)
