Surge Protector

Anyone know what kind of surge protector I would need to protect my computer and projects in FCP from being zapped by lighting or other electrical hazards? Thanks, and any links would be greatly appriceated.

Surgex is the *only* company manufacturing surge eliminators (as opposed to everyone else doing surge suppressors). That's because they don't use what are called MOV's (Metal Oxide Varistors) which lose their capacity to be effective over time. MOV's are what are called "self-sacrificing" and, as far as I know, all surge suppressors use them in some manner.

Surgex is the only one that completely prevents surges through the AC line up to 6000 volts. Some argue that a bolt of lighting is more than that, but what they may not know is the wiring and transormers in your residence won't allow more than 6000 through the wall (a little known fact).

This is their least expensive option at a street price of $329 (feel free to email me if you wish to get real-world pricing):
