Supporting Dvxuser Sponsors

I just received my HVX200 yesterday from Spec-Comm and liked the price and service that I received (thanks Jasmine), particularly the 10% discount on the CinePorter that I hope to take advantage of later this year. I also felt good about supporting a sponsor of this wonderful forum.

I have decided to get a Cartoni Focus tripod system (CF101) based on Jarred's review and other comments on this forum. I would like to make this purchase from a Dvxuser sponsor as well if practical. However, AbelCineStore's price is $75 (6%) more than B&H Photo (including shipping).

If the price difference was 1% - 2% ($25), I wouldn't worry about it, but over 5% difference is harder to justify. Can you folks help me justify it?

Are there other Dvxuser sponsors that are selling it cheaper?

Also, is it appropriate to 'haggle' with an internet distributor over the price?

This forum is so valuable to me that it is the only place where I have ever taken 'sponsorship' into consideration in my buying decisions. Thanks so much.

Abel gives dvxuser memebers special pricing. Give them a call, either Ron or Jared in LA or Peter in NY, and they will hook you up.

Thanks Jarred.

I found out that Ron is at NAB and Jared just got married, and the helpful woman on the phone wasn't authorized to give me a discount. Initiating a purchase just before NAB was poor planning on my part (I've grown acustomed to just placing automated orders online).

I'm happy to wait a week until they return, as I don't need the tripod until June.

Thanks again for creating such a useful site and for sharing your wealth of information.
