support rods

Hey all,

I recently bought a cavision shoulder mount but it came with really short rods. I was wondering wheres a good place to buy the cheapest decent reliable rods. I need them to be a bit longer and I believe they are 15mm standard. Thanks for any help.

Somehow that friggin' 15mm is hard to find and expensive. I went all over hardware stores, Online stores. International sellers, Film Supplies stores, Camera Stores, Flea Markets, Ebay, NO LUCK! I even tried those customize steel rod shops... Friggin' pricey!

You're gonna have to pay around $100 for a pair for 18 to 24" Redrock sells really good one.

WARNING!

Damn the metric system!

If you see 5/8" that looks exactly like the 15mm rod and only $10 a pair at Film Supplies Store... DO NOT BUY! It's not gonna fit! Luck for me I tried it out first.

I got my whole shoulder mount with 24" carbon fiber rails for $270 from IndiRAILS. I am sure the price of the rails alone could not be that bad. It is worth looking into.

And to the poster above, I second 5/8th rods not working, I had some I tried to use to make a support system (I got them for free) and I very quickly realized they were not compatible with 15mm rods and accessories.

Be careful though, a lot of the cheap rods out there don't have very good tolerance on the diameters so they might not fit the best with your cavision. The redrock rails have are very precise and fit everything I have used them with.
