Supersized

The worst flight I was ever on was when I was to the right of a guy who had to be 400-500 pounds. He sat in between me and the guy who had the emergency door seat. He had to squeeze down between the arm rests and his folds overlapped onto my left arm. Disgusting. He should have been forced to purchase at least two seats, maybe three. America the bountiful.

But how do they use the toilet on long haul flights?

I worked as a Paramedic for a long time and we routinely had to transport patients over 500lbs. The biggest one was a woman that came in at over 900lbs. We had to cut out a pair of double hung windows to get her out of the house. It took 12 of us, using a tarp to get her through the window and into the BUCKET OF A FRONT LOADER to move her. Something I will never forget.

I don't understand how these people are not only able to maintain a job, but maintain a job that keeps them in 5,000 - 10,000 calories a day. (five fried chickens, three dozen eggs, four pounds of bacon and a diet coke for breakfast)

From my experience (from working EMS) most morbidly obese individuals are disabled and are not part of the workforce.

So does the state consider them disabled because they are obese or is their obesity a result of something else. How much do they make being disabled? Do you think depression is also a part of this?

I have no idea what the compensation for a disabled individual is. I'm sure that the government has a very complicated forumula for that.

After a point, cause and effect become blurred. I am sure that depression and feelings of self worth are part of the problem, but like I said, cause and effect is blurred.

I think that once they go beyond a certain point they give up, and just keep getting worse

Well, once you reach a certain weight, exercise isn't really an option anymore and then things really go down hill. It's like the overweight people you see in Wal Mart who drive the little carts because they can't walk for more than a few minutes. It just adds to the problem.

Absolutly, I'm glad they do not have a weight limit at Wal-Mart.

I was trapped on a 10 hour flight going to Europe stuck inbetween to really obease people....i felt like a small piece of roast beef trapped in like super poofy italian bread....it was scary!!
I was 10 at this time...so i was some how able to slip past the guy in the row seat....i was small....

..i think it's kind of a shame that people get that big....no offense to overweight/obease people out there....i jus think they could really prevent themselves from being like that..but they dont..
