Superman II Donner Cut

Right, that's what I was saying - those three pictures (and all of the LOTR episodes for that matter) all made extensive use of miniatures.

Another more recent film utilizing new and old-school technique is Dead Man's Chest.
I must say, I love the fact that the filmmakers built ships to scale, and tanks, and really destroyed a lot of sh*t. Good times!
I also am absolutely blown away by the computer generated effects in the movie, namely Davey Jones and Crew. Davey Jones is the best I've seen. Period.. Better than Gollum. When I first saw the film I was certain that some prosthetics were used. I couldn't believe it when I found out that was not the case. Just watch the DVD extra about it. Phenomenal.
And, just when I thought I couldn't be any more amazed, John Knoll explains that they never had to resort to using Bill Nighy's real eyes. They were completely digital.
Incredible work.

On a completely different note, since this is a thread regarding Superman, here's a little geeky fanboy piece I did while bored late one night:

That↑↑side-by-side comparison shows what I have been saying all along. This new cat isn't worthy to polish Chris Reeve's (red) acting boots. And poo pooing Lois Lane?! The casting of this broad (who looks to be all of 17 years old) is a major reason I refuse to see this Singer-helmed piece of shi*. Just subjectively compare her performance to Margot Kidder's and tell me I'm wrong. I still say Kate Beckinsale woulda been beyond perfect.

Edit:

And again...effects are irrelevant (although the original film's effects still/always will stand(s) up.)
Repeat after me...
It's all about storytelling/acting.
It's all about storytelling/acting.
It's all about storytelling/acting...

they made the effects look like they were made then i thought that was very cool unlike starwars when the scene are added digitally you can tell and it throws you off.

Whatever any other shortcomings the films might have had, Reeve wasn't one of them. He is the DEFINITIVE screen Superman. No one else comes anywhere close.
