Superimpose faces over moving footage?

I have this idea, and it's basically consists of using the same method that was used in Kunk Pow: Enter the Fist where the main character's face is superimposed over the original kung fu film it's parodying.

Has anybody else done this or knows of any resources online I could visit on how to go about this?

What I had in mind was having my character memorize the movements of the original footage (Brady Bunch Intro). I was thinking of getting a green screen mask, taking out the facial area, putting trackers on the upper, lower, left and right sides of the mask (to track his head movements) and then superimposing that footage onto the original Brady Bunch footage.

I'm not necessarily looking for an easy way to do this (I know it's going to be time consuming), but I was wondering if anybody has already had some experience in doing this. And if so, get some ideas on how to make it more efficient.

Google was the first place I went to. I couldn't find any substantial information though.

Thanks for the link, I'll read up on it right now.

Don't think you'll need to track your talent's movement.

1. You should be tracking Brady Bunch's head,
2. stabilize talent's head
3. keyout/rotoscope your talent's face
4. using the track data from Brady's head movement---superimpose talent's face on.

Good places to track would probably be the eyebrows, nose/nostril area. 2 or 3 point track so that you'll have translation, scale, rotation data.

Good points. I noticed a lot of good information I wouldn't have realized watching that link, so thanks to the both of you a ton!

Now, should I have my character mimic the original characters motion (i.e. when Mrs. Brady turns her head to smile at her girls)? Or would Mocha be able to do that?

You should have your talent match the angles as close as they can. A tracker can't create a new perspective from a flat image.

That's what I figured I would need to do. I ordered a green screen mask for him to wear which I'm going to cut out so only his face will be showing.

I'm pretty stoked for it.

Thanks for all the help! You guys never disappoint. I love this place.

I just did a project like this, you dont need a GS hood, you just mask out the head. Without the hood, you have more control of how much material/skin you have to work with.
If there are any profile shots, it would be good to have a GS BG instead of rotoing the nose and such.

I'm cutting out the hood (since it's already ordered :(), so there will be plenty of face to work with. It's mainly just to cover his hair/ears/neck.

We ordered a nice, thick green screen as well, so I think it'll come out pretty well.

Yeah. That'll work fine. It provides a good enough foundation for me to work with. I think I'll be able to do a lot better with it though. We'll have to wait and see.
