Super Easy Audio Question......

On the dvx100a, there is a S-Video output and 3 RCA outputs.

I want to use the S-video output w/RCA left and right output...
all 3 together.... for dvr recording...

I'm running my computer movie, to the camera via firewire, then
outputting thru the S-Vid and the 2 RCA sound outputs.

Easy Question: Are all these outputs synced up with each other?

because, I noticed while making a dvd with a dvr, the sound coming out of the monitor is a little delayed sounding when the camera sound is on. Almost an echo... was wondering if the sound is delayed or the picture or ???

I burned a dvd, and it looks o.k.... but if it's off a bit, it will really show on a big screen....

Thanks for your time,

Darryl

yeah, but I'm sending the movie from the computer thru the camera then arriving at the dvr. The dvr wan't to control the camera, so it doesn't apply for me.

BUT, yes, the image is really nice. Some people don't like using the dvr, but I'm lovin it. Great image, Great sound, and no software bullshit.... no hours of trying to make things work. I burned a 2.5 hour movie in 2.5 hours time.

Real time is so nice.

The reason for the audio delay when you output through the camera is that there processing latency, however, as you have discovered, all the analog outputs (S-Video, composite, audio L&R) are in sync.

I agree with jchenier, if your DVR has a 1394 input, the quality COULD be a better, assuming that it doesn't do a D -> A conversion on the inbound signal before running through its compression routine (this could save two unnecessary conversions). The down side to DVRs in general is that they employee some pretty hefty compression, so even if the data stream remains digital, it isn't likely to be anywhere near the 25 Mb/s of native miniDV storage device.
