Hi,
I have known about this for years but somoene mentioned it yesterday and I thought id give it a go.
What you do is take two lenses, one is on your camera and then you take the second lens and turn it round and put both the front elements up together. I tried various combinations but I got the best results with two 50mms.
The focus of both the lenses dosnt really matter, I put them both on infinity and the item is in focus at about 20mm away from the rear element of the second lens. If you zoom the camera right in you can zoom in to rediculous, almost microscopic sizes. I held my finger tip up and I could see the individual grains of dirt inbetween the furrows of my fingerprints. I held up a 5 penny peice and could see the tooling marks and the dirt in the patter. I also stared into the lens and got some really massive blowups of my pupils dilating etc etc.
Im going to capture some of this stuff and post some frame grabs, but I thought id share this technique. Looks pretty cool...
