Hi buddies.
Here you can watch the teaser of a super-8 feature film to be released soon in the big screens. It was completely shot in super-8.
Concerning that subject, one must say that shooting in super-8 is a real challenge. Costs are lower than shooting in super16, but you do still have to spend some money on DVNR

Here is the teaser:

The curse of the cages (Essa Maldita Vontade de Ser Pássaro)
Directed, produced by Adrian Steinway and Paula Fabiana
Brazil, 2010, 82 min

Hi there. Pleased to meet you.
We used PRO8mm camera with chrystal sync classic model.
We used the VIVID3 200T kodak.
To make it a resonable and interesting result and reduce grain, we transfered super8 to HD with DVNR at cinelicious.
Lots of problems happened and that we are aware of how to fix them:

1st - you'd better overexpose your film.
The DP we used was not aware of that and some scenes had to be thrown away because they were underexposed.

2nd - The movie was partially filmed with Fuji reala 500D. Big mistake.
However, we decided to make this mistake a kind og language and it turned out to be gorgeous.

3rd - The best results were achieved with Kodak 50D. That was a great deal. However, you only can use it outdoors for a good result.
To use it indoors would require a crazy amount of lightning.

4th - DVNR is extremely important if you intend to screen the film.

Thank you.
Adrian
