Hey,

Im trying to figure out the cheapest way to shoot super 16mm anamorphic(2.35:1). I got my hands on a free rental of an Arri SR-2 outfitted to S16. I really need the anamorphic look to it, and I was wondering if someone had any information on what lenses to use, and where I might be able to rent them(NYC area). Thanks for any help.

Plus any suggestions that I should take into account when shooting S16 anamorphic

Thanks,

-Matt-

Don't do it. It's so difficult since one really can't find lenses with the right squeeze factor. I'd say get a 2.35:1 ground glass and crop. With slow film it'll look pretty decent.

I had talked to many many ppl that are tech pros and they all said the same as you, rlkum. They said its not worth it to get an adapter or lenses. They said the best way to do it, is get the ground glass for the viewfinder that shows framing for anamorphic, and then crop the S16 image in post to 2.35:1 - thanks alot for the input
