sunshade vs mattebox

hello,

Century Optics and Chrosziel have sunshade and mattebox for the DVX100, but I saw that some sunshades, like the Chrosziel, have support for 2 filters and one can be rotated.
So what is the difference between the sunshade and the mattebox ? Sunshade cost is a lot lower than mattebox.
Some sunshades even accept rods, french flag, etc, like a mattebox, here is an example:

So what is the biggest difference ?

Thanks,
Ulisses

Sometimes, the terms sunshade and mattebox are used to describe the same thing.

Typically, sunshades don't accept filters.

Re: sunshade vs mattebox

HI Ulisses, our sunshade that you referred to is termed a "sunshade" by Chrosziel mostly due to size and features, but as far as I am concerned it sure acts like a full size Mattebox. The only thing it doesn't do that its big brother, the 411-53PK does, is accept lens modifiers/adapters (Tele-extenders, wide angle lenses, and anamorphic lenses). But for a good price, it comes with French flag, 72mm lens adapter, has a rotating and separately sliding filter stage, accepts optional 15mm rods with an optional center bracket (~$100). It is a great mattebox ;D

Hey Rush,

The 440-01 has a 104mm Clamp Adapter. Can this be used to work with the 105mm Tele-Extender?
