Sunrise shot

I have to get a sunrise shot...which means I will be up the crack of dawn to get this. Any advice (while I am awake) on how to get this RIGHT the first time with my DVX100B??
 
Get up at the crack of dawn the day before and find the best position and take the time to play around with settings and filters. Take note of exactly where the sun will crest, and move it a little, little bit north or south, depending on if you are on the top or bottom half of the planet.

Or...
Shoot at sunset and call it sunrise.
