Sunrise and Sunsets

I am new here, someone sent me this site and it is an incredible site, i am very happy to know about this.

that being said. I'm sure we all have seen the nice transitions to show a change in days. A fast motion sunrise and sunset.. I am wondering the best way to get these, im sure there are stock footages out there, and I'm sure filming it myself would be out of the question, due to the Large time needed to get a full sunset and sunrise..

any suggestions on how to do it, or how to get it.

thanks
Mike

If you can get me a host I can give you a sunset. You can also create sunsets and sunrise with AE, Bryce, Vue, dspirt, 3dsmax, Lightwave, Softimage, etc.

Thanks for the replies...
Blue: I dont know about hosting, unless someone wants to be nice and do it :) I'm sure I'm not the only one who could sometime use these... do you have msn or something that you could send it with?
Sirius: That was realy nice, if you wouldnt mind, I would love to get it from you. Did you film that, or was that stock footage, and if so... how did you do it..

Mikey - I shot it here outside of Las Vegas last month. I just rolled tape for about 40 minutes then sped it up in PremierePro.
So what exactly do you plan on using this for? Commercial project?

Just for fun, I dont plan to sell it or use it for anything being sold... if you dont want to send it to me, thats totaly understandable...

So that was only 40 minutes worth of footage, i got the speed up part obviously, but i would have thought to get a full sunrise or set, would take atleast an hour or so... i assumed more..

Hey mikey - I just checked the file I linked to you. It is a 720x480 size wmv. I thought it was the smaller 320x280 version. You should be able to use the .wmv file in your NLE.

Although it's not a complete sun-up to sun-down, at 00:57 in this clip I follow the sun from the first picture you see here to the last one, where it is almost all the way down. In this clip it just cuts in time but of course one could as well speed it up instead. It's not very tight edited, but that was not the purpose of this, it was just to demo some clips. =)

Take a look at:

Thanks very much guys...

So, did you guys do anything special... did you use and filters? because doesnt leaving the camera pointed at the sun for so long MESS up the chips? also, if you could quickly sum up the best way to acheive a sunset/rise... did you just leave the camera on come back later? did you do anything special?

thanks again..

I just used the UV-filter I always have on, and the built in NDs of course. I set up the camera hit rec and just sat down and enjoyed the sunset. It didn't take very long actually. I imagine getting a complete day-to-night would take alot more time, and if you are not there watching it, disk recording to capture it all without stops.

Thanks a lot, Anyone know what UV filter i should look for? and how to record direct to disk, like you said?

thanks

WOW.. im in shock!

thats all i can say....

thanks for the help guys

oh man.... guess im out of luck.. not for mac users

i hope one day, they come out for mac. seems a bit shocking it hasnt... even tho a lot of dv users have mac systems, it seems mac laptops are perfectly set up for that system... with their inputs and accessories that come standard...
