Sun Through Trees

Yesterday was one of those "perfect" days weather wise .... sunny, dry, mid-fifties ... I went for a walk through metro park and grabbed a few sites into my H2. I kind of liked how this one came out. Opinions?

It's okay. To me it just looks like some light source hidden in the trees. Everything around it is a bit dark (obviously because of the exposure you had to have it at). The sun is actually more distracting than anything.

Personally, I'm not a fan of it, but I see what you're going for.

I like how the trees pop because of the sun acting as a back light. Perhaps it would have been better without the sun?

Yeah, I agree with Jon here, the rays from the sun are interesting, but overall it makes me feel very confined for some reason... I think due to the underexposure. If you could've gotten that sun, with a properly exposed foreground, I would've enjoyed this a lot more, but even then, its just trees...Not much to look at.

I actually really like it. The dark blue sky, the silhouette of the trees and the bright sun come together nicely for me.

Now that I look at it more, I think It also has to do with the composition. The sun is simply too small and more like a random dot just put in there. It also feels at an awkward place. Not that it's a rule, but it doesn't really fall on the golden section (2/3 up or down 2/3 to the side), and so it feels off.

Too bad it wasn't foggy or anything and you got some nice rays of sun. :D

I was mostly interested in the extreme contrast. I originally was trying to do the HDR thing but didn't have a tripod and it didn't work out like I wanted. But I liked this individual one.

Thanks for the feedback from all.

BTW, I often like to violate the rule of thirds. It's just me. If I was doing it for money, I'd have to be a bit more "conventional" I guess ...
