Sun Shield / Hoodman DIY

Hi everyone, someone may have done this before but I just thought I would share it. I was cleaning out my apartment when I came across one of my old college binders that was under the couch and I instantly had an idea. I can make a sun hood outta this thing!

So after some measuring and marking on the binder I cut the pieces out. It's a great material because it's basically a plastic wrapper around stiff cardboard. And the great thing about making this yourself is that you can make it as shallow or as deep as you like. I made mine with tapered edges because I thought it would look cool  I gaff taped the plastic around the board for more durability after being cut. Then I gaffed the pieces end to end. I made the extra tab on one end to give it more stability when in use. I adhered velcro to the inside edges and the opposite side of the velcro went around the monitor. And that's it!

I figured any type of binder will work, even the all plastic ones. One great thing is that it can fold flat in a jiffy.

I know sun shades are pretty cheap but if you want to pocket the $20 to $30 for something else then you might want to try this.

I hope someone finds this helpful, I'm gonna work on one to go on my on camera LCD next.

Cheers!
