Hey I know shooting the sun can cause internal probson the dvx, but can any other light do this too? I'm trying to make sure because I'm concerned if I'm outta some loop.
Thanks

Re: Sun problems

I wouldnt worry about it.. just keep the eyepiece out of direct sunlight.

Re: Sun problems

How much direct sunlight can the DVX take? and how quickly will the eyepiece ruin if it is exposed to sunlight? I often hold the camera by the top handle, and have the eye piece pointed upwards as I glance into it to make sure what I have is in frame. Sunlight has to be hitting the eye piece, should I worry? And how quickly will the CCDs fry if I shoot directly into the sun? (just for curiosity's sake)

Thanks!

Re: Sun problems

I havn't heard anyone burn out an eyepiece. The XL1 was horrible because the way the magni glass was placed it cooked alot of people's eyepieces.

I have had a 10k HMI at about 10' pointing it's way.. The hairs on my neck got a little warm but the camera seemed ok.

Just be careful. Throw a towel over the camera if its in the sun for to long and you should be fine.

Re: Sun problems

I don't typicaly wear a ballcap; but I like to place one over the VF when I'm not on it. Just hang it like a hook.

Re: Sun problems

Dang, you guys are quick to reply. I plan on just playing things safe, but I was just curious about any experiances people have had. After dropping my camera and cracking some parts, I'm so paranoid it's disturbing.
