Just curious if any of you who own dvx or xl2 or sony fx1 got the chance to due a music video for a famous artist how many of you will use one of these cameras with any special attachments and of course the good locations, cars, houses etc... ( I just used sum 41 as an example)

Re: Sum 41 music video!!!!!!

I think famous artist prefer to go with 16mm or 35mm because they have the money to afford it!

Re: Sum 41 music video!!!!!!

A music video shot on film....seriously unlikely, nothing I've ever heard of, the costs are simply too high for such a project.

I know the budgets are huge as a director if it were up to you would you shoot with dvx? It always can be transfered to film.

Re: Sum 41 music video!!!!!!

yeah pookie, watcha talking about? most videos are shot on film, well maybe now that might have changed but I doubt it.

If thats true, it must be really recently.

Re: Sum 41 music video!!!!!!

Yeah, my old film prof. worked for Mtv a while back and told us they wouldnt accept a video unless it was shot on film. i think it changed now though.

Re: Sum 41 music video!!!!!!

Yeah, It is shot on film and most of the artists have to pay for the film.  Have any of you guys seen the episode of Punk'd when they punk Kanye West?  -They try to take his film and Kanye grabs it crying that its his and that he paid for it.  Pretty damn funny.

Re: Sum 41 music video!!!!!!

pookie are you drunk?

Much Music won't except video that aren't shot on film.. unless your a huge big name artist... then they make an except..

film is used all the time in music videos

Not sure what MTV's policy is.. but I'd wager it is fairly similar

Re: Sum 41 music video!!!!!!

HEY.....I'M OLD.

Or was that drunk?

I always get them confused, they're kind of similar...

needless to say, I've never worked a music video shoot (and not by accident either) ;)

Re: Sum 41 music video!!!!!!

You can obviously see the kind of cameras and magazines on those films cameras on Mtv shows such as Making the Video. There are artist like Kanye West, and MC Hammer ( I am sure there might be others) that have shot videos with video cameras first and had them aired! However as the song got popular they got a better budget to reshoot the video in Film. I am not sure why Kanye shot 3 videos for the song "Jesus Walks" though! Yes that episode of Punk'd was pretty funny too! LOL!!!
