Not bad but kinda not really fleshed out and seemed like little cuts here and there. You could pretty much just straight up cut a couple main characters out.

First half was great, but got increasingly worse from that point on. Story really didn't go anywhere and for as "special" as the Suicide Squad was supposed to be, they didn't do much but brawl.
 
It's hard for me to really empathize with characters who I can't really respect or who are just detestable. The whole story felt rather contained with buildup and a slow motion climax that felt underwhelming. The man who was trying to be a good father was the most relatable and it was a good decision to make him the audience's "in" to these people. In the end I was disappointed as I didn't really care about these characters and wanting to feel for them as they go through their trials. I do wonder what happened to the government lady who was pretty much responsible for causing everything. I enjoyed the soldier's transformation and realizing he was a pawn, that felt like the most fleshed out change of the film. I don't hate on many things and a lot of work went into it of course, and a lot of people really loved it, but it just didn't do it for me.
 
Story progression and character development were pretty much thrown out the window in the released version of this film, but who knows if the original film before the studio freaked out and demanded a ton of re-shoots was any better. The biggest let down for me was almost no joker throughout most of the film, yet he was featured front and center in all of the promo trailers. I also had trouble with the story itself where I kept asking myself: Are these really the biggest bad-ass criminals you could find to fight a god-like alien witch demon ?
