Hey! This is my first post here, and I am not sure if this is the right place to post something like this, but it has to do with AE so here it goes:
I am fairly new to AE and was just wondering if anyone could critique the CG on a short clip I made. I know its not very original, but I tried to make it as close the "real thing" as possible.

Hey, looks pretty dang good.

I'm no CG pro, but I think it could use some tweaking in the parameters of the effects to make the flash and laser look a little more naturalistic. This is guess work without having the file to play with, but maybe bringing down the brightness of the flash and laser and giving the edges of both some transparency or blend.

The flash of light on the person shooting looks great. A hint of light further down the rest of the tunnel might also help (I know that's a lot of work). I wonder if the light that appears on the tunnel walls and the person should have a bit of the laser color too.

For being fairly new to AE, this is a great job. Have you seen this site yet? There are some tutorials that might apply to the effects you are using.

Nice job.

EDIT: changed link- direct to tutorials now

it is "real" in that "real" environment. nice work, but it is not as hard as I thought. I thought about somethnig which should be real in real environment.

Nice job. Consider making the core a different/lighter color and have the whole thing broken up via displacement slightly. It will give it a slightly more realistic feel, and will add some body to the beams.

Nice work on the perspective too.

Great work! Love the ambient light from the lasers. The keying isn't bad, either. Good work on the lasers coming straight to camera.
