Hey guys, wasn't entirely sure where to put this so feel free to move it.

I've been playing around with photoshop - nothing too extreme trying out various ideas for a webpage header. I'd like to get some comments on a few variants I came up with. I'm just not sure about them. I've been playing around with natural images and "waterish text" (that being the highly technical term).

I'm also having a really hard time coming up with an interesting "logo" based around "Weet Media." I've always done simple things in the past but I figure it's about time I moved up. Any suggestions? Weet, for the record, is an intransitive middle English verb meaning "to know, to wit" if that helps any. Anyone have an idea?

Anyway, here are some experimental headers:

Edit: For some reason I just realized that I don't like the lack of a true black in the bottom two.

I'm English...Living in England...never, ever, neverever heard anyone use it.
I don't think they work, give us more information...use images that express what your company does...or what you are interested in....not the things you think you should include...Pick a font that you love or modify two together....mess around...Hopefully someone good with gfx will help you out.

Hey, thanks for the response. Doesn't look like many have comments. I know what you mean and honesty I don't really think including a DVX cutout was a bad idea. I don't need it but I do feel that it is a meaningful icon. As I said these are just rough experimentations though. I'm going to design one template around a natural based theme (lots of great nature up here in Montana - good stuff). And a few more "corporate" looking styles. As I did mention though any suggestions on the word "weet" would be most appreciated :D. I have a few ideas but nothing has jumped out and grabbed me as "this is it."

As for weet, by "Middle English" I mean "roughly the dialect of Chaucer." I'd be surprised if it was still used! In fact, I think it's only attested once in an obscure piece of poetry. The word seems to be still active in other germanic based languages from what I'm told.

Shaw, just give it time and people will start giving you a few options and design. I almost thought it said weed for a sec. .....

Honestly, I don't think any of them are working. The clearest thing in the logo is the image of of the leaf--maybe it should be subdued if it's just a background. The text is hard to read and the font is boring--adding the waviness doesn't help either. Also, the cut out DVX makes it look like something is missing. Unless you're running a service to locate missing cameras, I don't think it fits. I agree about using elements that represent your company--does the leaf mean anything as applied to your work (ie environmental, nature photography)? As for the name Weet, it's so obscure that people will assume its your name--so maybe you might just go ahead and use your name. Shouldn't a company name be memorable or evoke some feeling if it isn't your name?

Yikes--I hope this isn't coming off too harsh. I'm trying to offer an honest critique.

Definitely go back to the drawing board. The name of you site should be dominant. Barry is right, the leaf is overwhelming. I'll try and fool with it when I have some free-time.

Barry, your getting funny. Dvxusers must be rubbing off on you. I laughed out-loud.

Okay. This is really kinda not what you wanted to hear..

This reminds me of when I thought about calling my collaborative effort with another filmmaker, drumroll please, "the syndicated reverie" because they were big, obscure words that sounded cool.

Then, a girl/friend was like, "What on earth do those words mean? Pick something else!"

Glad you came to your senses...
I hope everyone does'nt say...'Yeah that guy from...something...some..thing..thingy you know him Wells.' hehehehe

Yah, it's really great when people rave about my work. They tell me it's, "something else."
I say, "yup, it sure is" and then we all chuckle. (This story is a complete fabrication);)

Hahaha!

You guys are great :). Thanks for the input - I needed it. Back to the drawing board I go then!

In terms of what I do: I only work video part time (go to school the rest of the time) but I've shot local TV commercials and have multiple live event recordings.

Quite honestly, I'm not in any hurry and I'm not taking this whole web site/company thing super serious at the moment (and thus I'm not in any hurry).

I was thinking Weet Media merely because of the similarity of the initial consonants (an M being essentially an inverted W). There isn't any reason I can't change that though :).

Much obliged!

Weet Media isn't the issue here. Who cares what the name is; we can go up and down the boards looking at peoples little 'film companies' and ask "WTF?"

The design element is looking like an 80's ad.

Go with a bold font; heavy with some weight. {erhaps a big W and underneath it says Weet Media)

Go contemporary. Pick solid colors. Colors that can be transferred to a shirt or logo.
