Suggestions for supper club concerts

I am shooting a well paying gig or a performer playing in New York City. I have the DvX 100. Will the dramatic stage lighting be enough or should I use some additional lights. They can' t be too obtrusive..I need to sort of blend in for it is really an "on location shoot" and I don't have a lot of control. Any suggestions will be welcome. Thanks, pm

Perform some tests ahead of time. Nothing else can, or will be as helpful as actually experimenting 1st before it's show time. You have all the time in the world to prepare, ahead of time, if you don't do your homework & you blow it, you have no one to blame but yourself.

Find a substitute setting with similair lighting and try things out. Good work is often the result of doing a lot of work. Read through the many postings here...yes it's a lot of work....and test, test, test.

I say throw some lights from where the stage is up.. I've been to the supper club for parties.. the lighting seems good to me..

If you need help let me know.. I'm around the neighborhood..

my only suggestion is to make damn sure you get a white balance based on the actual show lights.

i've done a lot of stage show stuff and its really hard to get them to run the lighting EXACTLY the same as it will actually be for the show.

they often tell you this is exactly what the light will be for the show and then they shut off some of the lights drastically changing what you balanced on or in some way make a big change and you end up with a picture with freaky white balance.
