I am wondering what the people on this site use for shooting with the hvx and brevis. I shoot with no shutter speed (someone suggested that to me) and use a nikon 28 2.8. With on a 2.8.

Any suggestions?

180 degree shutter or 1/60, hvx zoomed into anywhere between 76-80 with a MF of 09 or 10 if you are on the hvx without the flip. Fine adjustments are recommended. Though with a 2.8 you may have to shoot 1/24 if you dont have lights.

If you are working with the flip, then thats a whole different ballgame that I cant comment on.

Good luck.

I was in a low light situation and shot with a 1/24 shutter speed. The footage came out crappy, (looked very stroby and video like) I was under the impression 24fps was more film like.

Frame rate and shutter speed are quite different. The typical setup is to set frame rate at 24fps (either at 480p, 720p, or 1080i modes), and shutter at 1/48s (or just leave shutter speed off if that's an option on your camera). This setting corresponds to 180 degree shutter angle at 24 frames per second..just like a film camera.
