Subdividing AVI files into scenes

Can anyone tell me how to subdivide an AVI file into scenes by timecode? (assuming the file has already been captured from a DV cam and contains all the timecodes, etc.)

I am aware this can be done upon capure from a camcorder, but can the same thing be done on a file captured previously with another tool?

Or better yet, can Vegas automatically subdivide a file using markers?

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

You can do it in the Trimmer. Mark your subclips and click the "Make Subclips" button.

You can probably automate it by script if you want even TC divisions (every 10 seconds, etc.).

This won't split the actual AV file, though; it'll just create reference points and treat the areas between them as separate clips within Vegas itself.
