sub titles in FCP

Hey guys,
I am doing a class project, where I am editing a montague of Luis Bunuel films in FCP. After I extract the films with mac the ripper, then convert them into quicktime files, I am unable to get the subtitles in FCP. Does anyone know a way to get .sub files in FCP, or maybe how to convert TS files into a quicktime with the subs directly in them?
Or if there are any other ideas anyone has to try and solve my problem, I'll try anything.
Thanks.

Ah being that its for class, and so to learn editing, rather than submitting to film festivals or the like, I would play the film back in a standard DVD player, with the sub-titles on, and then take a composite OUT from DVD player to a composite IN in the computer (you'll need a computer w/ a basic capture card). It isn't specifically pretty, but for purposes of learning FCP and learning to edit it should do the job. Additionally, there are some Mac "video screen shot" type programs around. So use one of those and the built in DVD player and again you should be able to get by. I've not used such applications, but try google or ask around here for that and maybe someone can give you a link or such. Good luck.

cheers.

The DVD player into the capture card is a good idea (you should be able to use a camcorder with firewire output if no card is available) because you can then select what you want your capture preset to be and avoid rendering and all that with some of the files you would get with software apps.
