stupid setting affecting the canvas

I don't know what I hit but when a clip is playing in the canvas and i hit pause, the frame i paused it on is pure white in the canvas. This is making my editing really difficult. what did i hit and what do i do to get it back so i can edit frame by frame?

Make sure the ALPHA is changed to RGB.

It's actually Major now... and I've been called a HECK of a lot worse.
