Stupid Panasonic and Their Stupid Parts.

My DVX was screwing up on me, so I took it in for servicing at my local authorized repair center. Well they told me that it was a faulty CCD chip, so they needed to replace the shole CCD unit. I called them today to check on the status, and they're now telling me that it's a faulty connection on my board, and it needs to be replaced, and the part is backordered until DECEMBER 6TH.

That is SO far away. I'm going to miss out on so much ****, I was planning to shoot at least 2 shorts by than, not to mention side jobs that I can no longer do. What the hell! I've had this camera for 3 months! It took half a year to save up for! Now I have to part with it! DAMN IT!!!

Rant over.

Re: Stupid Panasonic and Their Stupid Parts.

If you can justify a loss of potential earnings, you should contact Panasonic directly and make a case for a replacement.

How many hours have you clocked on the camera?

Re: Stupid Panasonic and Their Stupid Parts.

Message Jan_Crittenden (the DVX100 product manager) and let her know the situation. If you bought a DVX100 with a Panasonic USA warranty she might be able to help you out. Considering how much we preach about avoiding gray market cameras, Panasonic USA should step up to the plate when DVXUsers have problems under warranty.

Re: Stupid Panasonic and Their Stupid Parts.

This would indeed be a case of a PANI REP stepping to the plate on the most popular DVX site around. We praise PANI-DVX and should get some props.

Re: Stupid Panasonic and Their Stupid Parts.

I PMed Jan, hopefully this can get resolved quickly. It took a long time to finally get everyone together for one of these projects, I would hate to have to reschedule.

Dis- It had less than 20 hours on the heads... :-/ It was still a baby.

AHH CRAP! I just realized I left my Hoya UV filter on my camera. I hope I can get it back...
