Hey people,

some of you might know me or not.

Anyway. I am living in germany and i am studying movie production and the speciality is directing.
A couple of weeks ago my professor told me that i would have the chance of studying the same thing in the us for a semster or two in case i'd find universities that i can afford and like.

The difficulty now is to find out what the exact name of my program would be in the us. Where are universities that offer directing at movieproduction? I have only recognized the "fsu - florida state university". I would be very very thankfull you to help me.

cheers,
Garry

UCLA (Univ. of California, Los Angeles), USC (Univ. of Southern California), AFI (American Film Institute), CalArts (California Institute of the arts), NYU (New York University) are a few big ones...

Trade schools for film...

Full Sail, LA Film School, New York Film Academy are a few

Full Sail, LA Film School, New York Film Academy are a few

all owned by the same person haha. I'm currently attending Full Sail. its definitely a different experience from USC or UCLA, etc. they really push the material at you quickly. i've only been here 2 months, but i've already met so many people who are very passionate about making films. networking is great here. full use of the backlot whenever you want it, as long as you schedule in advance.

i'd say look into everything MechSpike said, and make your decision based on research.

All three of those are owned by the same person?!? I had no idea...those were the three I thought about attending a couple years back, that's interesting...

ya the same guy owns them all. run by different people obviously, but the same guy bought LA Film School and New York Film Academy.

That's really cool, so do you like it down there? I thought about going there but everyone describes it as fast food film school and it just didn't seem like my thing, it was pretty nice when I visited though.

things definitely go fast. they cover 4 years of education into 2 1/2. But its the intenseness that will also be in the industry, so they're also preparing you for that also.

Cheers,

thank you very much for the suggestions.

Well, fact is, that i am living in germany right now. And i am researching, finding out which fits best to me. I think it would be USC and FSU. In addition there is a quite interesting one in New York.

They force you to do quite a lot of stuff just even to apply. :)

Theres also SVA (school of visual arts).
It's an awesome school, i go there as a directing major and it's the best investment I've ever made.
