OK, I'm sure everyones been irritated when their out shooting a fast moving scene and strobing starts taking effect.

I have a question on a quick panoramic pan that's just basically spinning the cam 360 degrees,
I'm looking for a fast pan that maybe takes 1 1/2 sec to go 360 degrees around. Can i do the pan very slowly when shot, and then speed it up in post and keep the clarity without strobing?

not to sound snippy, but why not just try it. it would take about 3 minutes and youd know exactly what it would do and look like.

360 degrees / 1.5 seconds / 24 fps = 10 degrees per frame. You might want to test out interval recording too, depending on your subject.

I thought DVX would do 1 frame intervals, but minimum appears to be 1/2 second. So I guess that will not give you what I was thinking. You could still fool with it though, it might just require a technique adjustment to smooth it out.

I'm hoping that you already took Neil's advice and tried it yourself, but I'm sure you found that a second and a half is 36 frames (i.e., 36 spatial points of reference) no matter how you do it -- in camera or in post -- and you're whipping through the scenery either way.

1.5 seconds to go 360 at 24fps. that sounds a bit too fast. get a death lens and then try it; if you like the look.

yeah, i just tried it, with a shutter speed of 1/36 and apperature set to f11. it took 15 seconds to do the pan. I threw it in premier and set it to speed up to 2 seconds, it looks blurry, HAHAHA!!!!

but atleast theres no strobing!!

sorry didnt do the test in 30p
