1 why there is strobing effect in 24p, and why I don't see it on film in movie theatre or watching DVDs ?

2 what is the difference between shooter speed 1/24 and shooter off? when shooter is off at 24fps, the time is 1/24th sec. - am I wrong???

3 how to get rid of double frame every 4 frames (I don't want that interlaced one either) or that are my only options ?

1) it strobes exactly like film in the movie theater, or movies on DVDs. Exactly the same. If you're not seeing it, it's because the film cameraman is shooting in such a way as to minimize the effect. This has been discussed at extensive length, do a search for "strobing" and you'll see pages and pages of responses. But the DVX 24p strobes EXACTLY the same way film does; it's been proven.

2) "shutter off" is 1/50 when in 24p.

3) Edit using a program that knows how to handle 24PA footage. That will automatically remove the interlaced frame.

don't mean to say that what the moderator is saying is wrong but there are two things i have a diffrence of opinion with. 1. i think the strobig effect you are experiencing is from premiere's lack of support of 24p normal footage(i'm am dealing with this same problem) you have to add a filter in premiere 1.5 to lower the brightness as a work around something to do with whites and super whites i think, so if you bring it below 100 IRE it should be fine. 2. the shutter off setting on my xl2 in 24p mode is 1/48th of a sec. not sure why the shutter speed has to always be double the frame rate in progressive footage however (i understand interlaced but maybe someone can clarify progressive)

Premiere may very well be adding something to the strobing effect. I wasn't including any effects of the editing program; I was saying that DVX footage, on tape, strobes exactly the same way as film transferred to video.

The shutter speed isn't always double the frame rate; but it usually is in the ballpark. Film cameras shoot 24 frames per second using shutter speeds anywhere from 1/43 to 1/60. The XL2 uses 1/48, the DVX uses 1/50. It's all good.

thanks for your help guys...Im using premiere pro 1.5, it supports 24pa, but it doesn't remove interlaced or double frame automatically, do you know setting to be used? I was trying everything and it always there... what to do, what to do???
