Strobe lighting effect for music video

Hello, I have a quick strobe light question. I had read on another site (which I can't seem to find at the moment) about someone wiring an inexpensive strobe light to the bass pedal of a drum set to get a "light strobing to sound effect" for the bass drum. Does anyone have experience doing this or know if it would or wouldn't work correctly? Of course I could always get one of those music interface modules for a car to achieve the same effect, but from a budget stand point don't really need to spend it on that.

thanks!

Sounds like they used an audio trigger. Most stage lighting guys should know how to trigger lighting effects via audio, or you could build a trigger yourself using a peizoelectric trigger.

Many controllers have an audio input, as do many strobes:

Keyframing in post may not give the desired effect, such as light modeling from behind the band, etc.

I was going to ask where can I get some lights but thanks for links i.
