Strobe effect after burning a DVD

I recently shot some Super-16mm stuff and when I was done editing I exported from FCP as a Quicktime movie and burned it to DVD in Toast, like I always do. But when I played the footage on a regular DVD player, it had this strobe look that was very distracting and unintentional. Anyone have any ideas on how I can fix it?

thanks.

Probably your video was exported as progressive, and your dvd file is natively "progressive". See if your disc plays fine in a Progressive scan capable dvd player, if so, the problem is conected to my description above and you need to do some kind of pulldown for ntsc playback ( My experience is with PAL) in order for it to be viewable smoothly in the ntsc stream.
