Stretching video for no good reason

Hello, I'm fairly new here which is entirely irrelevant to what I'm about to ask but figured it was good manners to say so since every one in every single forum on this planet does so.
Anywaays... I recorded some video with an EX3 in full hd (1920x1080) and then edited it in final cut pro 6.06 in a ntsc timeline (I'm in a macbook pro and didn't want it to die). Now all good and we're all friends and everything, until I try to export it in, also, full hd. I've tried a bunch of different options and no matter what I do, it always comes stretchy. I've tried clicking on and off the antrophomorphic button and tried to export it in custom settings with different ideas and still nothing.

Now my client says she looks fat. Women are such vanity queens.

Anyways, it's my first time using/editing with an EX3, so I just don't know what to do. Can anybody help this poor soul??

Thanks!

Ved.

You are using HD source files in an SD timeline? Is this really faster than using HD files in an HD timeline, and scaling down your preview window?

well I didn't know you could scale down your preview window ONLY... so, no I bet it is slower. And... there's no process to go back to an hd timeline, I'm just exporting straight from the ntsc timeline and I've tried a few like HDV 1080p24, or XDCAM HD 1080p24, or did my own settings along with a rain dance and just got the same results. It's just stretched. It's so sad, so sad.

Yeah start with a timeline that matches your source footage. It's a lot simpler to cut in the original format and resolution- then export to Compressor where you can downconvert to whatever format and resolution is required for delivery.

I'm absolutely sure it is. However, this thing having more than 100 cuts, being lip sync, lasting 5 minutes after cutting more than 3 hours of footage, and just plain taking a damn lot time of editing, I just don't feel like starting again to make the timeline match. If I export it to anything else that is not hd it actually works, dv ntsc 48khz works fine for example, so... any ideas that don't involve starting over again? If not that's ok, I know it's a hard one

If you dropped clips from a native source putting them into a proper timeline would be super simple.

First drop one clip from your source into a new timeline to create the proper settings automatically.
Then go back to the original timeline and select all clips and copy them.
Paste into the new timeline- they will look small and squishy.
Go to the first clip and double click, reset the motion tab settings for size, aspect ratio and distort. Should now match the timeline settings.
Next copy that first clip.
Select all clips in the timeline and edit>Paste Attributes, basic motion.
Now all clips should be at the proper resolution.

No need to start from scratch with the edit.
