Streetlights

Does anyone have any suggestions as far as rigging a lighting setup to emulate streetlights? The characters are simply walking down the street at night, but I don't want to shoot it using the actual light fromt the street lamps, if that makes any sense. Any suggestions would be great.

Thanks in advance!

Why this question just came up on the CML...

While some have suggested using CTO or CTS (straw) to emulate sodium lights, here is what David Mullen ASC recomends for emulating Mercury vapor lights:

"Here's a digital snapshot of a night exterior where I used CalColor Cyan
60 on an overhead tungsten PAR to simulate a streetlamp. It is similar
in color to the mercury vapor streetlamp I had art department stick on
the end of the trailer in the shot:"

I typically go with an arri sun 1200 and decent focus lens so you dont get too much spread. Then i like to add either CTO or light purple (cant remem exact name) to give a particular look.
