Apols if this is off-topic for this section, I couldn't find any more relevant place..

I'm looking for recommendations for streaming video hosts. I've been using Vimeo plus, but it doesn't seem stable enough. I've had potential clients saying they can't view the video.

I don't mind paying more, but I'm not looking for a dedicated server.

Youtube will stream to just about anything and it's the most reilable in terms of having someone else host your video. Hell they'll be able to view it from their mobile phone if their PC is too old to view it.

There are a few downsides:

1) "Noise" from other videos, unless you direct the clients to your "channel"
2) If you have any music from copyrighted sources, your video may be caught and not uploaded.
3) lowest quality setting may be too low for your own tastes, and clients will see that by default.

yeah, i know what you mean about Youtube. But the problem there is the advertising over layed on each video. Just not suitable for my needs.

Helllo Mikrokev,

I run my own adult video sites from dedicated servers, video converted to mp4 played in Flash video plug-in, using Episode 5 on an Apple. This works great, everybody who has the Flash browser plug-in and java can view my videos without any problem. I've embedded JW Player of www.longtailvideo.com in my html coding as a viewer. If you don't get hundreds of people watching your video every day you don't need a dedicated server, you could get a cheap hosting plan at for example www.hostgator.com . I read your posts about dedicated streaming videos but you really don't need this unless you wish to broadcast live video. Basically my setup is the same as that of youtube and Vimeo, only very small scale, but I'm in full control. Let me know if you need further info.
