Streaming 720p 24p Footage onto Apple TV or through a Direct Connect

Hey everybody,

I am sure this is to early to ask, but I thought it is worth a try. I currently going to be upgrading to the panasonic hvx200 and also going to purchase a firestore fs-100 which is a hard drive that the camera wil record to directly.

The question is will I be able to either one, stream the raw .mov 720p footage over the wifi to watch or possibly connect the fs-100 to the apple tv and watch the footage?

This would be awesome if possible since I like to watch my dailies, as we all do and not having to haul my mac pro into my living room rules. It totally streamlines the entire digital process and if this works, apple is on to something.

I read the tech specs and it says "Baseline profile up to Level 1.3; 1280 by 720, 24 fps, Progressive Main Profile" which is exactly what my footage will be shot in, but i dont know what the baseline and 1.3 lingo mean.

I have a 27" lcd so the dvi port will connect perfectly with the apple tv. If not, probably going to have to figure some way to connect the secondary dvi through my house.

Thanks!

I doubt the iTV will stream directly from your camera. You'll have to capture to FCP and put it in a format that iTV will recognize. It won't recognize the video data stream coming from your camera, from what has been officially posted by Apple so far.

I will be streaming it from the fs-100, from my mac pro.

I just bought a 25ft uxga cable to connect my mac pro to my lcd tv, which I think will be my best bet in the matter. If apple were to setup the apple tv to allow it to stream the 720p over the wifi, that would be it for a lot of us.

Bandwidth is a major issue with DVCPROHD over wifi so I'd say probably no. But that's not to stop you from converting from DVCPROHD 720p to H.264 720p which is a primary Apple TV codec and then you can play just fine at a visually comparably quality.
