Streaming 16x9

My host only accepts WMP. What I've done with pretty good success is to export my timeline (QT Conversion) and make an AVI using the very highest settings which of course makes a pretty big file. I then burn a CD and transfer the cd to my PC and then open Windows Encoder. I then encode the movie to WMP using 464kbps and it works great.

Here is my question. How do I covert that movie to 16x9? I know how to do that in compressor or output to DVD Studio Pro. but how do I do that for streaming?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks in advance,

Re: Streaming 16x9

There are probably different ways to do this, but the easiest and most efficient is to use a program like CLEANER or SORESON SQUEEZE. You should be able to download Cleaner off of Kazaa or Limewire, but Sorenson is a little tricky, need keygens, so you'd probably have to purchase.

With Cleaner(i can't speak for Sorenson, cuz I've never used it), you merely grab your file and place it into Cleaner. Double Click the file and set it's settings how you want them. This includes making the movie 16x9. You can also crop matted projects to be streaming 16x9.

It's so simple - I use to only be able to export my files straight from Final Cut, and I could never achieve anything but 4x3 clips with the black bars on top and bottom. Once i got Cleaner, my movies can now be 16x9 or even 2.35-1 for that matter, and be quick start.

I have cleaner 6 - which uses Window Media 7 for export. There may be newer versions of Cleaner out there, also I've heard a lot of good things about Squeeze, especially on good quality without huge file size.

Good Luck.

Re: Streaming 16x9

Cleaner won't encode to WMP 9. Spoke with them several months ago about that and they said that as of right now, they still can't do it.

You mentioned Squeeze. Is that a web site?

Thanks for your imput.

take care,
eric

Re: Streaming 16x9

When he says "squeeze", he's referring to Sorenson Squeeze. It's a program from the same people who made Cleaner (I believe). You can find it at sorenson.com as a free demo download. Unfortunately, it places a watermark on your footage though unless you purchase it for like $500.00 :(

Sounds to me like you should change your host server. Very strange that any server host would only work with one file type. I mean no matter the format it is a file, and a host simply streams information files over bandwidth, no? I host with powweb.com and they have a 5 gig per day bandwidth allowance. Never had a problem with them.

I agree w/Storyteller32. Most movie trailers are QT, its free, and most PCs ship with it installed, don't they? Might be time to get a new hosting service.

BTW, Compressor has great mp4 settings. I have a preset for creating very cool 2.35:1 24p web video files, in addition to the typical 16x9.
