Streaks of light from Headlights...

You all have seen footage used in movies or commercials where they speed up highway b-roll of cars so fast that it looks like a streak of light going down the road. Is that possible with FCP? I am about to start working on a piece that involves cars traveling at a high rate of speed and wanted to add that as some sort of effect.

FCP does include a 'Stop Motion Blur' filter that may do what you are wanting ( Filters>Video>Stop Motion Blur ). But usually what you are talking about is done in the initial filming. I know in still photography it's accomplished by leaving the shutter open for an extended time, and I would assume it would be done the same way in video. Try filming it with a very slow shutter speed.

You'd probably want to try a 3rd party filter if you've already got the footage.
