Strange timeline issue - does not playback sound, yet everything works with QT??

I used a Canon XL2 to record 2.5 hours of footage, 60i 16:9. I used the default onboard mic. I capture this footage into FCP, no issues at all. I drag the clips onto the timeline and I see their dynamic audio as evidenced by the wavelengths. I even can open the captured clips with quicktime and they playback perfectly, audio and all, no issues whatsoever. But within FCP I cannot get ANY audio to playback on the timeline no matter what I do. Restarted FCP, recaptured the footage 3 times (7.5 hours spent), deleted and reimported, etc, etc. Is this some bizarre bug or am I missing something obvious? Really could use any help here if you guys have encountered this! Thanks much in advance!!!

Ok I was missing something obvious, ha. Apparently even though my camera was off, this was not enough to prevent FCP from playing audio through it. I had to disconnect the firewire, turn the camera off, and reboot my mac for the audio to return to FCP playback. Just for future notice, in case this wasn't already obvious to you guys.
