Hey Gang,
Im having a weird problem and hopefully someone can help me with it. The edits I make are not exporting as they appear in the timeline. When I export the sequence as an .MOV the IN and OUT points of the clips are all a few seconds later then what they are when I look at them in the timeline.

I started looking into this more and I realized that when I adjust the IN and OUT points by dragging ends of the clip, the little preview that it gives you of your new IN/OUT points is also off from what plays in the timeline.

If anyone has any idea why this is happening i would love some advice. Im editing on a macbook and currently am working with apple pro res clips. Final Cut version 6.0.5 but I think it was happening in earlier versions too.

Thanks in advance,

Ian Carleton

Never heard of this. THis is something wonky with your system. Time to trash preferences. Although I prefer the hokey pokey....but that never seem to work.

#44: FCP acting weird - Trash Prefs

Shane's Stock Answer #44: FCP acting weird or unusual. Just not like is normally should

If the program was working fine, and now isn't, or just isn't working the way it should, the first things to do are:

1) Trash your FCP preferences. Download the Preference Manager from Digital Rebellion: http://www.digitalrebellion.com/pref_man.htm

http://www.kenstone.net/fcp_homepage/trashing_fcp_prefs.html

2) Open the Disk Utility and Repair Permissions.

3) Shut down for 10 min. Go for a quick walk around the block and get SOME exercise today. Come back, turn on the computer and see how things are.

4) (optional) Do the Hokey Pokey and turn your self about. Results may vary.

Where did the ProRes clips come from (did you capture from tape, transcode from another codec, etc.)? Is it all the clips in the timeline or just some of the clips in the timeline? Are all of the problem clips in the timeline from the same source file? When I've seen problems like this many times it's due to a corrupt piece of source media. One thing you can try is to re-export the problem clip(s) as ProRes (keeping all the same settings of the original clip(s)) and then use that newly exported clip as your master clip.

they all came from 5d footage that I converted to prores through mpeg streamclip. So I would be working with 3 big source files fot the entire project yeah. Ill try the re exporting thing too. Thanks
