Strange fcp 6 issues

So tonight I guess is the night when Final cut decided to go buck wild on me. I've had a whole slew of strange problems in the past few hours.

For starters.. my audio is acting all strange. If I play a clip it will play through fine and I can hear the audio. THen if I play it a few more times the audio will occationally be replaced with super high pitched ticking that sounds like pops in my headphones.

Another thing.. my audio and video refuses to link together. It says it's linked but when I click on the clip it just highlights video or just audio.

My external video out won't work. I set the thing to all frames but it refuses to change from off.

So this all just started happening TONIGHT. I've never encountered these problems before and I never changed any settings or anything. Is this just a huge major glitch? =[

Alright I'll give this a shot as soon as it lets me download it lol. WHen I click to download it says page cannot be found. Anybody else w/ this problem?

Still can't find a link for that that actually works but I just came to a realization that makes me feel so stupid =[

I had the "linked selection" button unclicked by accident so nothing was linked. *sigh*

Eh... it's still not a bad idea to trash your prefs every once in awhile. They tend to become corrupt and cause strange bugs.

Definitely run disk utility on the drive at least every six months or so for preventative maintenance.

So when you say "run disk utility on the drive" what exactly does that mean? Not really sure... =\

Every mac comes with the program "disk utility".

Go to your primary hard drive> applications> Utilities folder> and open the program "Disk Utility"

Give it a second to gather info, then click on one of your hard drives in the left column. It will then give you the option to "verify disk permissions", "repair disk permissions", verify disk, and repair disk. I go through the cycle on all my drives every few months. First repair permissions, then repair disk.'

It'll give you a log on what all was fixed. You'll be surprised...
