strange AE CS5 error.........or is it!?

hi all,

ive got the production premium suite CS5 which includes After Effects. all running smoothly and happy with the software but for some bizarre reason AE has suddenly lost the ability to be minimised or restored by using the usual 3 buttons that appear in the top right corner of all programmes (the dash for minimise, the 2 boxes for restore and the X to close)

in fact, they have completely disappeared!(well, they are out of view) so the only way i can close the programme or minimise is via the task bar.

the other problem is that because of this i cant move the work area around so i can put 2 programmes side by side (windows 7 feature)

it wasnt like this when i 1st started using it and all my other software does not have this problem (ie, premier pro CS5)

im not sure if this is an AE error, PC error or user error! lol

any ideas guys?

cheers,

scott

Can't really help as I am on a Mac (and the Mac version of the three buttons are all present and correct).

But there are a few other ways of closing and minimising . . . . . option clicking on the desktop (if visible) hides AE (might be a different keyboard command on a PC version) - or ctrl + cmd + H also hides AE (again key commands might differ on a PC) . . . . . and so on.

hi mate,

thanks for the info :)

but the main thing that i need to do is have the option to be able to move it around the screen. when using dynamic link between AE and premier pro i like to have both screens visible by having one on the left side of the screen and one on the right side of the screen.

in its current state, all i can do is have it full screen or minimised to the task bar :(

i have no way of moving the window what so ever! lol

cheers anyway,

scott

Try these steps (I know they sound weird):

With After Effects open,
  • Hold Alt+Scape
  • Let go
  • Press R
  • Hold Alt+Space again
  • Let go
  • Press M
  • Press any arrow key
  • Wiggle your mouse around the screen

Let me know if that doesn't work. It should work with any "lost" windows program.
