Story over Image......

Just watched Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, again for the umpteenth time. Story was still tight. No HD this or that, no 4K or any K.

Low res, stop-action, and I still loved it because of the story.

The Simpsons. Pixar. Miyazaki. Disney animation. A Charlie Brown Christmas. The Grinch Who Stole Christmas.

No camera involved at all, no pixels-peeping, no s-log, no HDR, no 4k vs 1080p or any of that nonsense anywhere to be seen...

Simpsons and other cartoon shows went form SD to HD, and I'm fairly sure old animation was shot by a camera frame by frame(I know stop motion was), and now they are mastered digitally.... but that is beside the point, oh and I love everything mentioned in this thread, Rudolf the red nosed reindeer is just about my favorite holiday movie of all time, it's little errors and shortcomings(not the right word) are part of the nostalgic feeling for me.

I use to watch all of the Christmas specials. I'm such a sap, cry at them all.
Thought I'd blow the attic dust offa' this one: http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?39462-Poll-The-Ultimate-Christmas-Film...

The Rankin/Bass Christmas films are classics. The abominable snowman scared the crap out of me when I was a tyke.

I can't wait for Peter Jackson to do his remake of Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer. The motion will be so smooth at 48 or 60fps. The 12fps of the 1964 version is unwatchable.

:)
