Story board help....

I cant draw for my life either...not even a decent stick figure...but i can draw a circle!!!

That program seems really interesting...hmmmm....but they probably hit you with high costs of new characters and settings and stuff.

The software is expensive. I do what Guillermo del Toro does (watch Hellboy special features), draw really crappy boards just to get the idea across, and then, if you can, give it to a friend who draws good to redraw them. I work in animation (editor, not animator) so I have several buddies at my disposal. Don't waste your money, as you put it, you're not rich, right?

There is a new game for xbox coming out this fall called "The Movies". I think you will be able to even create shorts with it. I am awaiting the release with great anticipation. It should end the high end prices on storyboarding software.

How would you get them from the Xbox to something you could take with you ... like paper?

the problem with programs is that it can take you 2 hours to get what a decent artist can do in 2 minutes. 30 min - 2 hours per board is extremely impractical when storyboarding.

I cant draw either, but I too draw shitty boards, and talk a friend though it who can draw much better than I and the boards turn out great.

If u think ur project is deserving of good boards (which u should) then you owe it to urself to check local colleges or community centers for artist willing to help you out (everyone wants to help with a movie) :)

What about buying some action men off ebay and blocking the scenes with them and a little digital stills camera. You can also give a rough idea of lighting using desk lamps.

Maybe even try a little video storyboard. I find that drawing on paper doesn't help nearly as much as planning things out with moving images. Also be careful not to become walled in by storyboards, they can prevent creative thought on set.
