Storing Mini DV Tapes

I've been shooting mostly P2 for the last 8 months or so, but tomorrow I am shooting on tape (at the client's request). My tapes have been in storage, unopened, in their original box, for almost a year now. They have been stored in different positions, some on their sides and some on their edges. Is 8 -12 months of this type of storage long enough to cause trouble with the tapes?

Thanks.

Store all video tapes vertical... either way vertical... side or end.

Long-term storage on the BIG FLAT SIDE (flattest, largest sides) is what shortens tape life-span... because gravity never quits, even though the tape is wound tight on a reel... it still settles due to either wet (sony, etc.) or dry (panny, etc.) lube. The operative word there being LUBE... tape settles unless the spindles (reels) are oriented properly.

The other operative word here is LONG-TERM... but it's a good idea to keep your tapes on end (anything but flat).
